So it\u2019s not that surprising that after <a href=\"https:\/\/customlytics.com\/de\/tiktok-ad-feature\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TikTok launched a variety of new options for advertisers<\/span><\/a>, Instagram is following suit.&nbsp;<br>Meta\u2019s social network recently introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/business.instagram.com\/blog\/new-instagram-ads-help-businesses\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">four new mechanics<\/span><\/a> that app marketers should know about. We tell you more about the details and how you can best employ them.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 25px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/div>\r\n<h2>1. More music<\/h2>\r\n<p>Music plays a vital role for video ads: It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chatterbuzzmedia.com\/blog\/the-relationship-between-music-and-advertising-5-ways-music-enhance-commercials\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">evokes emotions, drives a story, sparks action, reinforces sales and meshes with your brand<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>Researchers measured <a href=\"https:\/\/today.tamu.edu\/2021\/08\/16\/how-background-music-in-ads-affects-consumers\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">brain waves of consumers, while showing them an advertisement with and without background music<\/span><\/a>. They found that test participants listening to background music had \u201chigher emotional arousal and attention level\u201d.<\/p>\r\n<p>Choosing the right music for your ad is crucial but it is often difficult to find the right tracks due to licensing regulation. You &#8211; hopefully &#8211; know that you can\u2019t just use the latest song by Taylor Swift to accompany your video ad.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>That is why some marketers rely on royalty-free music that is offered on platforms like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bensound.com\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bensound<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/artlist.io\/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=14034774418&amp;utm_content=125966023140&amp;utm_term=artlist&amp;keyword=artlist&amp;ad=579732227644&amp;matchtype=e&amp;device=c&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiA4OybBhCzARIsAIcfn9lHtEAi6Rf_25oPglBZ32WuWtZwidZSXJXLhv1oFLBEU_LbFligBHYaAg0LEALw_wcB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Artlist<\/span><\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jamendo.com\/start?language=en\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jamendo<\/span><\/a>. Now Instagram gives ad creators access to its own royalty-free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/business\/help\/880459498798521?id=214359809769375\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u201cMeta Sound Collection\u201d<\/span><\/a> which you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sound\/collection\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">access here<\/span><\/a> (Facebook login required).<\/p>\r\n<p>To use this music in your ads, you simply choose \u201cadd music\u201d in the ad creative section and either manually select the desired track or let Instagram\u2019s AI propose one for you. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/instagram\/759279452000505\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">You find a step-by-step guide here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>However, be aware that this sound collection is NOT the music collection you access when creating an organic reel. It\u2019s a royalty-free collection of music, so you won\u2019t find any chart hits but maybe something else that fits your ad. It doesn\u2019t always have to be Taylor Swift, does it?<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 25px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/div>\r\n<h2>2. More ad space<\/h2>\r\n<p>Instagram hops on a trend that <a href=\"https:\/\/customlytics.com\/de\/apples-ad-antics\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Apple\u2019s App Store<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/customlytics.com\/de\/tiktok-ad-feature\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tiktok<\/span> <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insiderintelligence.com\/content\/why-netflix-basic-with-ads-will-win-advertisers\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Netflix<\/span><\/a> are already on: It gives marketers more possibilities to present their ads. There are two new options the social network is rolling out:<\/p>\r\n<p>Firstly, marketers will be able to place ads in the explore section that users access via tapping the looking glass icon. Here, the algorithm usually offers organic content that matches the user\u2019s interest. <a href=\"https:\/\/business.instagram.com\/igb\/a\/ads-in-explore\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Now it will showcase ads as well<\/span>.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Secondly, Instagram begins testing ads in profile feeds \u201cfor non-teen, public profiles\u201d, as the social network writes. So when checking out a profile, users will not only see the content of this profile but ads by other accounts as well.&nbsp; As part of this test, Instagram experiments with monetization options with a few select US creators.<\/p>\r\n<p>While the first options seems logical, the second one probably raises some eyebrows \u2013 especially when considering the latest shipwreck that Apple experienced after giving marketers the possibility to advertise on app profile pages.<\/p>\r\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/customlytics.com\/de\/apples-ad-antics\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Apple\u2019s case<\/span><\/a>, publishers complained that ads for gambling and dating apps appeared on their profile pages. Additionally, some called this ad option an indirect tax, since publishers now need to bid for ads on their own profile page to keep contestants from \u201cstealing\u201d users.<\/p>\r\n<p>Of course, Instagram differs a lot from the App Store but nevertheless it\u2019s understandable that the social network is only testing this option first. And marketers should look at the Apple example to be wary about potential implications.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 25px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/div>\r\n<h2>3. More shopping<\/h2>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.instagram.com\/191462054687226\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">E-Commerce has become an integral part of Instagram<\/span><\/a>: When users like the jeans an influencer wears, some buy it directly via tools of the platform. With its new multi-advertiser ads, Instagram targets these transaction-friendly users.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>Shoppers that engage with an e-commerce ad \u2013 and thus have shown commercial intent \u2013 will see similar products and offers by companies in a carousel post underneath the original e-commerce ad.
